13.11.2017 Ceramic Wine Jug made in our pottery classesThis is one of the largest pieces made by our pottery students. It is approximately 40cm high and about 28cm in diameter. It was wheel thrown as two separate parts, which were connected together at leather hard stage. The lid was wheel thrown as well. After the first firing Ali covered the white clay with black underglaze and wiped it off to create weathered and old look. Then he applied underglaze decoration that is visible better in the second photo. Then he covered the whole piece with clear glaze. I hear it holds lots of wine when Ali is enteratining at home.
