There are a few things that quickly come to mind when you think about pottery classes, such as pottery wheel, clay, kiln, brushes for painting your pots. But very often when you running a studio you will keep accummulating things that dont always get associated with pottery but can give you priceless little advantages here and there. For example, if you are dealing with glazes you will have to mix them thoroughly from time to time, and a kitchen whisk will be your friend. Small soup blenders also help immensely with mixing glazes. Fishing lines can be used as cutting wire. Corn flour makes things easily come of the board, just like baking, so your clay does not stick to your work bench. 

Large wraps from laudries make a really good pottery wrapping. Your old nanna's doylies can leave really nice textures on your plates. Old credit cards can be cut out into fancy or not so fancy pottery ribs. Microwave helps to speed up glaze drying. Old yogurt containers help to contain your glaze tests, and anything else really.  I am sure the list goes on and on and on and I am not remembering everything right now but here is one more. Last but not the least toilet cleaning brushes are really good for mixing your glazes in big buckets.
